No Man Is An Island 2 Book Release feat. DJs Moman & Adam (Wake the Town)

Join us in celebrating the release of No Man Is An Island 2, the new book from the prolific researcher, record digger, writer, and LRS co-founder Morgan 'Moman' Nixon. For those who don't know, this is Moman’s 2nd record collector’s guide to the mighty Studio One label (No Man Is An Island 1 sold out three times!), which serves as a unique resource for those on a journey to find the best quality pressings of critical Studio One tracks. The book provides critical insight for collectors, as well as plenty of information on the musicians, engineers, & producers who made Studio One an inimitable powerhouse of Jamaican music. Come hang with us and get yourself a copy!

No Man Is An Island 2 officially releases on February 4th, and we'll be gathering at the newly opened and immediately incredible Lloyd's Records in Oakland on Saturday, February 8th. If you're a collector in the Bay Area, you likely already know who Lloyd is, and if not just trust us that you'll be grateful to sift through his expertly curated shelves of records. DJ sets by the one Moman, in town from Hawai'i, and Adam from KPOO's Wake The Town - heavy tunes & Studio One rarities through Oakland's own Nightfall HiFi soundsystem, handbuilt & operated by Patrick Murphy!! We will have some drinks, probably some snacks, plenty of copies of No Man Is An Island 2, and some special, limited-edition items for you to take home with you.

⚡️A few words from Moman⚡️
This book is directly influenced by my time spent traveling the world after the release of No Man Is An Island 1, playing Studio One records and meeting incredible people with a shared love and respect for Jamaican music and culture. Spending almost a year straight DJing and talking about Studio One music was unreal, and in many ways that time fueled my fire to continue this project and release a second book. It was also super inspiring to be able to gather community feedback and improve this book upon it, resulting in what I feel is a more research and detail heavy book.
As global wars rage on, the idea that No Man Is An Island is even more important than it was a few years ago by a long shot. Fascism continues to knock ever louder on our door and sharing knowledge and taking collective action to release art and music has become even more pivotal. Jamaican music has always been a light during dark times for me, and I hope this project continues to foster creativity, inspiration, and most importantly, community.
