When her beloved younger brother, Nati, is suddenly killed in a car accident, Eden discovers he had a secret girlfriend, Maya. Grieving his loss and reeling over the discovery that he kept a secret from her, Eden is drawn into an obsessive relationship with Maya. As both young women lean into each other to keep Nati’s memory alive, they find their growing codependence may offer more harm than solace. Come Closer is the fully-realized first feature by director-writer Tom Nesher, inspired by her own family tragedy — the death of her younger brother, Ari. It won Ophir Awards (Israel’s Oscars) for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress (Lia Elalouf, making her stunning film debut), and Best Editing. Come Closer won the Viewpoints Award at the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival, multiple awards at the 2024 Jerusalem Film Festival, and other accolades.
