🌳 Access the energy of the moon/ month for renewal

Celebrate the energy and joy of Nisan at this uplifting Rosh Chodesh Nisan women’s circle. A thoughtful women’s gathering to inspire renewal, connection, and inner happiness.

Together, we will explore the unique characteristics of the month of Nisan and how to tap into iliberation & freedom. This Rosh Chodesh Nisan women’s circle will offer practical insights on avoiding common pitfalls, invitation for renewal, and navigating challenges with strength and optimism.
A special crafting event to include decorating our own Miriam's Cup or Serach Bat Asher Cup as we explore and share the themes around FREEDOM.

We’ll connect as Jewish women while honoring this special time of lunar renewal. The evening will include meaningful discussion on significant women associated with Nisan, as well as a deeper look at what it means to be free—the major holiday of this month of our LIBERATION is Pesach.

Enjoy light refreshments as we sing soulful songs and chant together, creating a warm and uplifting atmosphere. Join us for this Rosh Chodesh Nisan women’s event and step into the joy, unity, and renewal that define the new moon and month.

Open to all Jewish women — come as you are 💚

--Rosh Chodesh Circle is a recognized as a Lay Leader led group by Hadar.

About Rosh Chodesh Circle at The Boston Synagogue

Did you know that Rosh Chodesh was given to women as their own special holiday?

Rosh Chodesh signifies the renewal of the moon and the start of a new month. According to tradition, it was a reward to women for their devotion and wisdom during the Exodus and their refusal to participate in the creation of the Golden Calf. Instead, they eagerly contributed their gold and jewelry to help build the Mishkan (Tabernacle)!

Join us to celebrate the new month with meaningful discussions that explore Jewish wisdom, traditions, rituals, and blessings to honor Rosh Chodesh. It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect and foster a supportive community— along with snacks and wine!

What to Expect:

  • Thoughtful discussions on Jewish wisdom and traditions
  • Rituals and blessings to honor the new month
  • Opportunities to connect and build a supportive community
  • Snacks and wine

We can't wait to celebrate with you!

Sounding the Shofar - Calling the Circle to gather

Info: One of our members will blow the Shofar to clear the space, prepare our intentions to open the circle. In ancient time the Shofar was blown to announce the new moon. We borrow this practice to clear our heads from all that clings to us to be present for the unfolding evening that awaits.

Schmooze

🕑: 07:00 PM - 07:15 AM
Schmooze - Grab a Nosh - Find a Seat

Info: Come early to schmooze, grab something to nosh and claim your seat in the circle. Say hello to familiar friends and make new ones.

Chanting

🕑: 07:20 PM - 07:25 PM
Chant Together a familiar or new Nigun or tune

Info: Before opening the circle we chant a familiar or new Nigun, tune, together. Music has a powerful way of shifting the energy and clearing the space for this special, festive evening we will enjoy together.

🕑: 07:25 PM - 07:30 PM
Candle Lighting & Open The Circle

Info: As we gather around the circle pass the light from one to another lighting our own candle and claiming our presence in the circle.

🕑: 07:30 AM - 07:40 PM
Invite a special woman to join the circle.

Info: Inviting a special woman from our past or current day is a way of extending the circle to those who speak to our heart. We offer up their name to join us.

🕑: 07:45 PM - 09:00 PM
The Heart of the Evening

Info: The evening's curated activities, topics, stories and discussion unfold. Culminating in a shared poem and closing chant.
