Nina Simone Day

On April 27th, QC Family Tree celebrates Nina Simone with music, ritual, and festivities.  As with our other Feast days, our Nina Simone Day is not a national holiday or a church holiday, it is unique to QC Family Tree.  Nina Simone day is a time of celebrating courage, strength, fierceness, and truth telling.

On Nina Simone day, we play Nina’s music. 

On Nina Simone day, we wear red.. 

On Nina Simone Day, we create armor or talismans for one another and gift it to each other with prayers of protection.

On Nina Simone Day, we sing songs and prayers of intercession, truth, and justice.

On Nina Simone day, we build a fire and watch the flames flicker as we pray that lies will be burned away by embers of justice and truth.
