On Tuesday, August 11, we'll chat with Katherine Goforth about her experience of transitioning genders mid-career, including rooms that won’t make space, tokenism and representation, what's actually going well in 2026, and her new rock-classical fusion project Opera Katherine.

Katherine Goforth is an artist whose voice and practice resist classification. Her international credits include the world premiere of The F****ts and Their Friends Between Revolutions at Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, Manchester International Festival, and Bregenzer Festspiele. She premiered her concert-theatre performance Where Would We Be Without Defeat at Stanford Live, and soloed in the world premiere of Andrew Yee's Trans Requiem at Trinity Wall Street. She sang Das Lied von der Erde with 45th Parallel and Des Knaben Wunderhorn with Harmonia. She received Washington National Opera's inaugural True Voice Award and the Career Advancement Award from Dallas Symphony Orchestra's Women in Classical Music Symposium. She holds a Master of Music from The Juilliard School and was a member of the Opernstudio der Oper Köln.
