Next Steps For 600 Commerce Dr.

Last year, neighbors, community members, and the City of Decatur came together to explore possibilities for the future of this site. Through a collaborative design process, we developed a vision that reflected community values, thoughtful design, and new housing opportunities.

Since then, the City has taken a closer look at what it would take to make that vision a reality. The conclusion: while the ideas were strong, the original plan would be difficult to build as proposed. To move forward, we need to revisit the concept and explore ways to make the project more financially feasible while still honoring the goals and character of the neighborhood.

This gathering is an opportunity to reconnect with the community and continue the conversation.

During this session, we will:
• Share what we learned from the previous design process
• Explain the challenges that emerged after further analysis
• Explore new ideas that could help the project move forward
• Hear your feedback on possible paths ahead

This is not starting from scratch. The work done in 2024 provides a strong foundation, and your input remains an important part of shaping what comes next.
