Newport River Group - Life beyond the litter pick

If you live in Uttlesford, you are very likely to be in the ancient and internationally important chalk stream headwaters of the Cam, the Stort or the Chelmer. These sensitive habitats are under serious pressure from human activities including pollution and supplying our mains water.

On the Cam, Newport River Group and others in Littlebury, Saffron Walden, the Chesterfords and Duxford are proudly committed to restoring this precious habitat.

Join Newport River Group for an evening of talks and walks to hear about their successes and what has been learnt along the way, from litter picks to planning a £200,000 wetland restoration project. The lessons learned will be useful beyond just rivers and wetlands, so please come along for a truly absorbing evening.

Two local sites are only 10 minutes’ walk away so please wear sturdy, waterproof boots to see their work up close. Please indicate any mobility issues or requirements well in advance so our hosts can try their best to accommodate your needs.

Soft drinks and bar snacks will be provided at the venue after the walk.
