Newport Beach Civic Center: Where Nature, Art, and Community Meet
About this Event
Newport Beach Civic Center Park, one of Southern California’s most remarkable examples of large-scale native landscape design. Spanning more than 200 acres, the park demonstrates how native plants can create beauty, support biodiversity, conserve water, and provide meaningful habitat for wildlife—all within a highly visible public space.
In addition to its remarkable native landscape, the park is home to Newport Beach’s outdoor “museum without walls,” featuring a rotating collection of contemporary sculptures. The changing exhibition adds an element of discovery, ensuring that each visit offers something new to explore.
The tour will be lead by Laura Curran, longtime Newport Beach resident and a dedicated member of the Orange County chapter of California Native Plant Society (OCCNPS). Laura has spent years advocating for the extraordinary landscape and will share her insights into its natural treasures.
At a time when communities across California are grappling with questions about land use, conservation, and public space, Newport Beach Civic Center Park offers an inspiring example of what is possible. Come see what happens when a city makes room for nature.
