This three-hour workshop is centred on the old fishing village of Newlyn, with its docks, piers and still-working fishing fleet. Newlyn's special light is one of the reasons it became home to an important art colony many years back. We will explore the granite lanes of this seafaring community as well as boats at rest on the water, with their reflections, patina and rust. The busy harbour area full of piled fish crates, ropes and buoys offers many photographic subjects. You will experiment with composition, leading lines and the rule of thirds and be encouraged to think about complementary colours and abstract details. Camera settings for different types of light and subject matter will be provided. This workshop is for lovers of photography as well as all those who also enjoy walking and conversation by the sea.
