The Newlands Horseshoe is one of Lakeland’s finest walks taking in the 5 MOUNTAIN SUMMITS of Robinson (737m), Hindscarth (727m), Dale Head (753m), High Spy (653m) and Maiden Moor (576m) – with an experienced Mountain Leader.
Experience the thrill of the mountains, with spectacular views, dramatic landscapes and a real sense of achievement as you walk along the high-level broad ridges that encircle the stunning Newlands Valley, in the North-Western Lakeland Fells. The summit of Dale Head affords one of the finest views in the Lake District along the length of Newlands Valley.
The Newlands Horseshoe is a demanding walk covering 10 miles (16-km) with 1,075m of ascent, which requires a good level of fitness. There are some sections of scrambling (rock steps) on the ascent of Robinson, which adds to the wild mountainous feel of this walk. It is a joy to walk along the top of the broad mountain ridges that link the five summits, with superlative views in all directions.
