From 24th to 27th September 2026, Ōtepoti Dunedin is proudly hosting the New Zealand Wheelchair Rugby Nationals alongside a disability sports festival to promote participation in disability sport in our amazing city.
The event will kick off with a para-ice hockey have-a-go session generously hosted by the Dunedin Ice Hockey Association at the Dunedin Ice Stadium (sign up details to be announced).
On Friday 25th through Sunday 27th September, the Breeze Arena at the Edgar Centre will be host to the New Zealand Wheelchair Rugby National Tournament. This event will be open to the public and free to attend, with match details to be announced. We would love for you to show up and support the teams: it is a great, high energy sport, and we would LOVE to show our visiting athletes what makes Dunedin such a great place (spoiler alert: it's the people).
Throughout the weekend we will also be running have a go opportunities for many other disability sports in the main Edgar Centre next door (schedule and details to be announced closer to the time): so if you've ever considered giving a para sport a try but don't know where to start, this is a great opportunity to dip your toes in the water and meet some new people.
A huge thanks to our generous event sponsors: Dunedin City Council and SBS Dunedin.
We will be announcing further details as they are confirmed.
