New Dawn New Hope - Sunrise Gathering for Suicide Prevention Month
To mark Suicide Prevention Month.
About this Event
Gather with us as the sun rises to remember, reflect, and share hope.
To mark Suicide Prevention Month, you are invited to join us on the shores of Coldingham Bay at dawn on 13th September. Together, we will watch the sunrise in gentle remembrance of those we have lost to suicide, and in quiet support of anyone affected by suicide or mental health struggles.
This is a free, informal, and open gathering for anyone who wishes to take a moment out of their day to hold space for loved ones, connect with others, or simply find a moment of peace.
What to Expect
- A Quiet Space: There are no formal speeches or strict schedules. We will simply gather together to watch the sun rise over the water.
- A Shared Ritual: You are welcome to bring something natural to cast into the sea in memory of someone dear—a flower, a handful of petals, or a smooth stone gathered from a place that matters to you.
- Community Connection: You can share stories, sit in quiet reflection, or simply stand alongside others who understand.
Note: A sister gathering will also be taking place at the exact same time in Walkerburn, linking our communities across the Borders in shared remembrance and hope.
What to Bring
- Warm clothing, layers, and sturdy footwear (coastal mornings can be chilly!).
- A warm drink in a flask, if you’d like.
- Flowers, petals, or a stone to throw into the water.
- A blanket or camp chair if you wish to sit.
- A Torch
