Net Zero Office Tour at DPR Construction

With increased extreme weather and utility grid stress, our need for resilient buildings is more crucial than ever. Luckily, several companies are leading the way by fortifying their office spaces.

Please join Women+ In Green San Diego for a tour of one such building, DPR Construction's net zero office: the first commercial building to achieve LEED new-construction Platinum in San Diego!
The interactive experience highlights details on the building's original certification, retrofits implemented since, decreased grid dependency, and a resiliency-focused networking portion with light food and drinks. Space is limited, so register early to ensure your spot at this thought-provoking event!

DPR, acting as owner, client and design/builder, completed a 33,600-sq.-ft. multi-tenant office building remodel, transforming a typical San Diego suburban office building into a cutting-edge facility that respects the environment, as well as DPR's people and culture. The building was the first commercial building to achieve LEED Platinum for new construction in San Diego. It also achieved net-zero energy status by incorporating natural ventilation, daylighting, efficient HVAC and lighting systems and renewable energy via the “Sustainable Communities” program.

The DPR office contains 11 conference rooms including the circular Delta Room and a large training area, a 16-person video-conference room, and a space dedicated to building information modeling technology. In addition, the open office features 14-ft. exposed ceilings. Scrims, which were designed to resemble the sail of boats, hang from the ceiling to diffuse light.

Event topics range from leadership to self-development and understanding equality gaps in the green building sector. This committee was inspired by the national movement and Women in Green conversations taking place in USGBC communities around the country. In San Diego, the committee is led by our volunteers and local leaders in the green building movement.
