Get ready for an evening of reggae, roots and rock as popular local five-piece NEKTA takes the stage at Hokitika’s Regent Theatre on 24 October at 7pm.
NEKTA have become a much-loved part of the West Coast music scene, known for their energetic live performances and distinctive blend of Kiwi reggae, roots and rock. Their sound draws inspiration from some of New Zealand’s best-known acts, including Fat Freddy’s Drop, The Black Seeds, Salmonella Dub and Tahuna Breaks.
The band features Ric Hetherington, Ash Wells, Jordy Hunter, Blammers and Pete Green, bringing together drums, bass, guitars, saxophone, keyboards, flute and percussion. Their live repertoire combines original material, including their track “Risin’”, with crowd favourites and popular covers such as their well-known version of the Coalrangers’ “If It’s Alright”.
A regular fixture at events including the Hokitika Wildfoods Festival, as well as venues and community gatherings throughout the West Coast, NEKTA are renowned for bringing plenty of energy and good vibes to every performance.
