The Latest Album from Nefesh Mountain: Beacons
Beacons emerged from Nefesh Mountain’s bold and wholehearted attempt to transform the world around them. Soon after concluding a whirlwind tour aimed at spreading their newfound message of radical love, co-founders Doni Zasloff and Eric Lindberg immersed themselves in feverish songwriting. They turned frustrations and fears into irrepressible hope, reaching far beyond their bluegrass roots to forge a fiercely joyful sound unbound by genre conventions. This process of musical alchemy led to Beacons, a radiant double album affirming Nefesh Mountain as a singular musical force. Their deeply impassioned songwriting awakens listeners to new ways of navigating an endlessly troubled world.
A Vision of Hope and Unity
Self-produced and mainly recorded at Sound Emporium Studios in Nashville, Beacons builds on the soulful intentionality Nefesh Mountain has brought to their music since forming a decade ago.
“We live in such strange and divided times, and while we wanted this album to be a full-on celebration of American music, one of our main goals was to bring love, hope, and positivity into a world that sorely needs it,” says Lindberg.
“In the end, we made a choice: instead of getting angry, we just made music.”
The album draws inspiration from the political and social landscape, including the Israel–Hamas War, the Russo-Ukrainian War, and ongoing polarization in the U.S. Yet, the spirit of purposeful optimism remains potent, as the duo also delves into personal stories such as the birth of their three-year-old “miracle baby,” Willow, and Zasloff’s journey with sobriety.
“This is definitely the most revealing and personal album we’ve ever made,” says Zasloff. “At some point, it became obvious that if we’re going to really open our hearts, we need to talk about things we’ve never shared before—with the hope that it will end up helping others.”
Two Distinct Discs, Boundless Sound
The album comprises two distinct discs:
Disc 1: A genre-defying mix of Americana, blues, country, and psych-folk, created with their longtime live band and guest musicians like pedal-steel guitarist Greg Leisz.
Disc 2: A return to their bluegrass roots, featuring legendary roots musicians Jerry Douglas (Dobro), Sam Bush (mandolin), Rob McCoury (banjo), and others.
“Bluegrass has an energy that’s so intense and invigorating, and for this album, we wanted to take that even further,” says Zasloff.
“Finally, we decided to throw out the rulebook and play whatever we felt like playing, as long as it’s true to us,” Lindberg adds.
Highlights from Beacons
“This Is Me”: A harmony-fueled anthem celebrating authenticity and owning one’s truth.
“Race To Run”: A fiery country-rock track about finding clarity amidst the noise of modern life.
“Another Way”: A fable-like storytelling song with soulful grooves and spellbinding fiddle melodies.
“Heaven Is Here”: A stomping, gospel-infused number about finding joy in the present moment.
“Regrets In The Rearview”: A bluegrass-driven reminder to stay present and let go of the past.
“Better Angels”: A poignant call for unity, inspired by both the U.S.’s political divide and the conflict in Israel and Gaza.
An Anthem for Love and Resilience
At every turn, Beacons transforms raw emotions into songs that uplift the mind and ease the soul. Tracks like “Mother” honor the indomitable strength of women, while “Little Longer” reflects on the bittersweet passing of time. Meanwhile, “What Kind Of World” delivers a powerful reckoning with global challenges, ending with a deeply personal revelation about love and hope for the next generation.
A Radical Choice for Radical Love
Reflecting on the tour that preceded the album, Zasloff says:
“Every night, it became clearer that we needed to keep being intentionally radical with our acceptance and love because that’s what brings people together. This album helped us understand that, and helped us find the strength to keep making that choice again and again.”
Beacons is a testament to Nefesh Mountain’s unique artistry, offering a radiant light in troubled times. With its masterful blend of genres and heartfelt storytelling, the album invites listeners to embrace love, hope, and the beauty of forging their own paths.

Craft Beer, Fresh Ingredients, Live Music and our Family & Friends. These core values are what we’ve rooted our brand in ever since founder, Dale Katechis, opened the doors to the very first Oskar Blues restaurant in Lyons, Colorado in 1997.
Dale’s Southern roots and previous experience in the restaurant industry led him to create a spot that locals and visitors alike could rely on for delicious food, cold beer and live entertainment; a place that would inspire his passion for brewing and spark the craft-beer-in-a-can craze that would eventually make Oskar Blues famous.
