Welcome to Navigational and GPS Charting! (4 hour class)

Whether you're a seasoned boater or just dipping your toes into navigation, this event is perfect for learning more about charting your course with GPS. Our expert instructors will guide you through the ins and outs of navigation tools, so you can sail the (inland) seas with confidence. Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity to enhance your boating skills!

Students will learn how to interpret a nautical chart and navigate on the Great Lakes using basic coastal piloting techniques. You will also learn about basic GPS and navigational skills, and how to use computer electronic charts. Class will meet on Tuesday, May 19 from 5 – 9 pm at the Traverse City Coast Guard station. Plotting tools and iPads will be provided for use during the class. Preregister by May 15 and Online Cost is $23.18 ( $20 + $3.18 Eventbrite fees). Class size is limited to a maximum of 20 students; minimum of 8 students needed to hold the class.
