Navigating Special Education: Adult Eligibility and Services (Free)
About this Event
School ends. The services do not have to.
This is the session families tell us they wish they had years earlier. Adult disability services in Illinois run on a different set of doors, waitlists, and applications than special education does, and nobody hands you the map.
Here is the map.
WHAT WE COVER
The PUNS list, what it is, and why the date you get on it matters. Medicaid, SSI, and waiver programs explained without the acronym soup. Adult day programs, supported employment, and residential options. Who to call in Madison, St. Clair, and Monroe Counties. What to file now so your young person is not starting from zero at 22.
WHO THIS IS FOR
Parents, grandparents, caregivers, and self-advocates ages 14 and up. Built equally for families and for the young people themselves. No jargon and no legal background required.
WHAT YOU TAKE HOME
Every family and every self-advocate leaves with a personalized Pathways Advocacy Binder. It is yours to keep and use for years, in every meeting you walk into.
ACCESSIBILITY AND BELONGING
This workshop is free. No income test, no diagnosis requirement, and no paperwork to bring. Accommodations are available on request.
