About this Event
According to The Trevor Project’s 2024 US National Survey on the Mental Health of LGBTQ+ Young People “nearly half (49%) of LGBTQ+ young people ages 13-17 experienced bullying in the past year, and those who did reported significantly higher rates attempting suicide in the past year than those who did not experience bullying.” Nationally, among all children it is estimated that 1 out of every five students is bullied (20.2%.)
Our LGTBQ+ youth are targeted for bullying at a much higher rate. In Bullying Recovery Resource Center’s (BRRC) class Navigating Bullying Together: Parenting for Prevention, learn about bullying, how to identify it, how to report it, what you and your child’s rights are, and how to best see your child through the experience if they are bullied. This class is for any parent who wants to learn more about bullying and bullying prevention.
BRRC is a nonprofit dedicated to providing the resources, education and advocacy needed to stop bullying and stem the long-term effects bullying has on its targets. They serve families deeply impacted by bullying across Colorado and provide support, experience, expertise and hope.
PFLAG Highlands Ranch: PFLAG Highlands Ranch is a local chapter of the nation’s largest family and ally organization, dedicated to supporting LGBTQ+ individuals, families, and allies. We offer community, resources, and advocacy to help ensure everyone has the support they need to thrive.
Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to learn and grow together as a community! 💙
