🔸Töötoa tutvustus/Workshop introduction:
In this partnering workshop we will step into ideas of partner work that both have strong physical contact and spatial attributes, that get created by becoming more malleable with the partners we interact with, while still maintaining our individual interest for a possibility to lead the interaction.
We will delve into technical aspects of how we can manipulate each other's body and interact with one another through motions of pushing, pulling and redirecting, while also adding acrobatic twists to some of the opportunities that we create.
In the workshop we mainly focus on the technical side of things through tasks and phrases, but some of the tasks involve improvisation, which will give useful tools for creating your own
opportunistic partnering interactions in the future.
🔸Workshop will be led by Nauris Miķelis Goba and assisted by Anna Marija Puķe. Nauris is a Latvian contemporary dancer and teacher. Besides that he has both choreographer and movement director credits in local and international projects. He has been active in the contemporary dance scene for more than 10 years and this experience has led him to interest in highly physical research ideas both in partnering and solo practices. Nauris has
been a part of numerous dance performances, event series, theater performances, commercial projects in film, music videos, live events, advertising both locally and abroad, but most recently he has premiered his piece “Looking at Myself” and has created and performed the vertical dance performance "Footprints: KM12". In addition to having a background in breaking and many different sports disciplines, his movement language has been influenced by many different teachers throughout the years. Anna is also a Latvian contemporary dance artist, choreographer, and performer working across dance, theatre, and interdisciplinary performing arts projects, collaborating with Latvian and international artists. Her recent work includes performing in Stephanie Felber’s Utopia Sites, as well as the previously mentioned Looking at Myself as a dancer. In her artistic practice, she is interested in physicality, movement, and the body as a site of action and decision-making in performance. Amongst her professional work, she continues her dance studies in the MA program at the Latvian Academy of Culture.
