About this Event
The Nature Art Jam series is a special themed version of Art Jam @ HKBM where each session focuses on a particular organism or group of organisms. Participants will get a special close up view of highlighted specimens & learn a variety of things from the Hong Kong Biodiversity Museum's team of experts- including but not limited to: their body structures, physiology, diet, behaviors, cultural significance, etc.
This August, HKBM highlights the curious family of mouse-deer, Tragulidae, & how colorful and patterned insects can be.
Nature Art Jam 自然百態畫室 (Mouse-deer & friends) [Aug 21 (Fri 五) 5:30-7:30PM]
Tragulidae is the family of a curious group of tiny creatures known as mouse-deer or chevrotains. However, being mostly small and a lot of them being rather elusive in the wild, the mouse-deer isn't exactly a household name. In this session of Nature Art Jam, participants get the opportunity to come up close and personal with the HKBM's specimens of Java mouse-deer, learn about the handful of adorable mouse-deer species & their many lovable quirks, and draw them from all angles to their heart's content.
Nature Art Jam 自然百態畫室 (Insect Palette) [Aug 28 (Fri 五) 5:30-7:30PM]
Insects, as small as they are, are one of the world's most diverse groups of organisms having body structures that can defy the imagination and swathed in mesmerizing colors and patterns that catch the eye, showcasing the fruit of years and years of evolution. In this session of Nature Art Jam, participants will unravel the secrets to beauty and grace that only insects can embody.
