About this Event

About the "The Tell-Tale Heart"

A man insists he is sane. Yet his words unravel into obsession, paranoia, and madness. What begins as a struggle against supernatural terrors becomes a descent into guilt, where the steady beat of a phantom heart grows louder, louder, louder — until it consumes him entirely.

This adaptation of Poe’s iconic short story transforms psychological horror into a visceral micro-theatre experience. The audience is drawn inside the mind of the narrator, where shadows twist into voices and conscience takes on a terrifying rhythm. The Tell-Tale Heart is a study of human fragility, the thin line between reason and delirium, and the haunting persistence of guilt.

Prepare for a performance that is intimate, unsettling, and unforgettable, with a theatrical heartbeat that will echo long after the lights fade.

⚠️ Audience Advisory

About Davina

Davina's journey began in her teens, training as an actor with The Young Pleasance. Her home was The Pleasance London, where she witnessed the theatre come to life from it being a building site to being part of the inaugural company at its opening.
She performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Devon Palace Theatre, and collaborated with Terry Pratchett on an adaptation of his novel Carpe Jugulum, touring venues like Riverside Studios, Glastonbury Town Hall, and Andover Festival. A standout memory was sharing the stage with Rowan Atkinson at Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, during a theatre fundraiser.
After a hiatus from acting, Davina attended the University of the Arts London, studying Sound Art and Design. She composed two albums, touring across the UK and Europe, with her music being archived in The British Library Sound Archives and featured on radio and television.
Her passion for acting led her to further training in the Meisner Technique in the US, and she also briefly studied at the Lee Strasberg School in Los Angeles.
Relocating to Hong Kong, Davina founded Treasure Chest Theatre, aiming to bridge gaps in English-speaking theatre. Her devised works explore themes from grief and addiction to refugees and mental health. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she embraced puppetry and mindfulness, performing at Hong Kong's largest music festival, Clockenflap, and touring to New York, the UK, and Japan. Today, Treasure Chest Theatre visits schools to teach and perform original productions.
Davina also trains adults at Actors Gym HK, sharing the diverse techniques she has cultivated over the years.
In Easter 2025, she was honored to participate in Funfest at West Kowloon, alongside talented local artists, living temporarily in a structure created by two US architectural artists—an inspiring and unique experience.
