In this seasonal series of fern study, join Maine Master Naturalist and Interpretive Guide Anna DiChiara online for a webinar, in-person for a walk, or both!What is a fern? Join an online webinar April 16th (6:00pm-7:00pm) to learn about fern structure, spring growth and identification techniques for the 30 varied types of fern here in Southern Maine. Join in person the following Saturday, April 18th (10:00am-11:30am) for a walk at Fuller Forest to search for fiddleheads and enjoy seasonal observations. Both sessions will discuss the delectable Matteuccia struthiopteris (Ostrich Fern) and how to distinguish it from less edible neighbors.
