Join us at Jackson County Public Library January 29th at 6:00P to learn about your local geology!Dr. Waters-Tormey has over 20 years’ experience teaching and researching geology of the Southern Appalachians as a professor at Western Carolina University. Her main interests are in how rocks formed deep in tectonics plates develop fracture systems as they are brought to the surface by tectonic events. She earned her PhD and MS in Structural Geology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, respectively. She works with local organizations, such as The Pisgah Conservancy and serving on the board of the Carolina Geological Society.
