Join us for a fun and tasty adventure exploring the world of cooking with the Jackson County 4-H Spring Cooking Series!
About this Event

This is a SERIES of cooking classes. Once you sign up for 1 you are automatically registered for all 4 sessions.

All classes will be 5:30-7:00PM at 876 Skyland Dr, Sylva in the Jackson County Cooperative Extension Office.

  2. 23 March
  3. 27 April
  4. 18 May

Open for ages 8-14. No prior skills are required, only intrest in food, community, and learning new things! Parents are welcome to attend and enjoy dinner, too.

This series will cover 4 food groups (whole grains, dairy, fruit/veggies, and protein) acoss four 1.5hr sessions hosted and led by extension staff. Youth will learn kitchen skills, gain confidnence, and learn about nutrition.

Every month, leave with new skills, new understanding of meal prep, budget planning, and healthy eating with seasonal, preserved, and handmade food.

If you register for the spring session, DO NOT register for the fall session, they will be identical.

If the spring session is sold out, try our fall (Aug-Nov) session, which will be identical (registration opens in July). Or join our waitlist for either session.


Important Notes/Changes!

  • Participants of this program must enroll in 4-H online within the first 2 sessions. Extension Staff will be avaliable for assistance in this process, please contact Rebekah Davis ([email protected], or 828-586-4009) for any help. Computer(s) as well as pen and paper applications can be avalible.
  • If you cannot attend a session for any reason, you must reach out to Extension Staff prior to the missed session. A no call -- no show to one session will result in your spot being open to the wait list for the next session and your removal from the attendees list. Note: this is only if you miss a seesion without prior communication.
