About this Event
Join us for the Natural Dyes Workshop at Pine Meadow Ranch Center for Arts & Agriculture!
This is the fourth event in a series of Natural Dye Workshops with artist Madelaine Corbin.
Get ready to learn more about the fascinating world of natural dye at Pine Meadow Ranch Center for Arts & Agriculture.
This in-person event will take place on Saturday, August 17th, 2024, starting at 10:00 a.m. (Pacific Standard Time).
This three-hour workshop will introduce participants to the fundamentals of bundle dyeing, ecoprinting, and plant printing. Attendees will have the opportunity to experiment with each method, creating two samples—one in silk and one in cotton—along with a finished and functional textile to take home. Explore the dreamlike imagery and colors achievable in bundle dyeing and ecoprinting, while also learning the unique method of plant printing accomplished by pounding the plant into pre-treated cloth. Discussions will cover fiber types, treatments for fixing color to cloth, and best practices for preserving natural dye prints, using plants cultivated specifically for their color at Pine Meadow Ranch.
All skill levels are welcome to join!

Corbin recently authored The Stuff of Everyday Magic, a book about her research adventures into the color blue. Her work has been supported in the form of residencies at the Oak Spring Garden Foundation, The Bloedel Reserve Creative Residency in Research, Prairie Ronde Artist Residency, Pine Meadow Artist Residency, and The League of Stars.
