About this Event
Join us for the Drawing as a Resistance to Rumination workshop on Thursday, June 27th, 2024 at Pine Meadow Ranch Center for Arts & Agriculture!
The Drawing as a Resistance to Rumination workshop will explore observational drawing skills as slow looking in nature to practice mindfulness and stop negative emotions and thoughts. This practice will improve mental health to direct attention to awareness of nature and self. Participants will receive instruction on drawing techniques with charcoal and prompted to feel and sense nearby subjects. Participants of all ages and artistic levels are encouraged to attend this family friendly workshop. Kids under 12 years of age need to be accompanied by an adult. We will use charcoal sourced from PMRCAA and move around the landscape to practice connectivity with nature and each other.
This workshop will be led by Beatriz Guzmán Velásquez, a multidisciplinary artist from South Texas. In her practice, she practices ethical sourcing of materials and speaks about migration, identity and connectedness.
All skill levels are welcome!
