Presented by Sustainable Nantucket in collaboration with In Situ Native Plant Nursery, join us for an in-depth conversation on the ecological and practical benefits of planting native species on Nantucket. Designed for gardeners, land stewards, and curious residents alike, this workshop explores how native plants support biodiversity, improve soil health, conserve water, and build climate resilience—right in your own backyard.

Nantucket Wildscapes Initiative founder, Leah Mojer, will share practical advice and deep local knowledge about Nantucket’s native flora. Learn which species are best suited to our rare sandplain grasslands and coastal habitats, and how thoughtful plant choices can enhance pollinator support and long-term landscape success. We’ll also clarify the differences between straight species, nativars, and cultivars, why those distinctions matter for ecological gardening, and discuss the best approach for your yard.
