Andreas Chaves is a passionate horticulturist, dedicated educator and a certified UC California Naturalist. His love for plants started at a young age, he learned ‘botanical Latin’ from his grandfather, a nursery professional and horticulturist. Through the years he has honed his skills in growing and nurturing plants of all kinds. As education supervisor at the Redondo Beach SEA Lab, he gained invaluable experience in plant propagation and native plant restoration while honing his abilities as an informal educator.

Andrew is committed to inspiring and educating about plants and the importance of native plant gardening. His workshops are engaging and hands-on, with plenty of opportunities for students to get their hands dirty and learn by doing. His teaching philosophy revolves around creating a safe and inclusive learning environment where all students feel comfortable asking questions and sharing their ideas. He believes that native plant horticulture is not just about growing plants but also about cultivating a deep connection with nature and developing a sense of stewardship towards our environment.
