In keeping with tradition, the Palm Beach County Chapter of FNPS will be holding our annual native plant swap at the December 15th chapter meeting. We hope that you will join us for a fun meeting and a great opportunity to diversify your native plant collection!
PLANTS MUST BE NATIVE.
Please arrive by 6:15 PM if you are bringing plants to swap.
A 6:15pm arrival time will allow sufficient time for all plants to be inspected to ensure that they are native to Florida, properly labeled, and free from any pests or diseases.
GAME PLAN:
- Each person can enter up to two plants which can be traded for tickets for a two-part drawing. Please write your name on the ticket; we don’t call out numbers.
- For the first part, tickets will be drawn randomly and each person gets to pick a plant as their ticket is called.
- For the second part, those who entered two plants get to participate again in the same sort of drawing.
- Extra plants can be brought to donate to those who are new to our meetings, for friends, or those who don't have a plant.
- The usual drawing, for which tickets are purchased at our monthly meetings, will still take place if there are any plants left over after the plant swap.
PLANT GUIDELINES:
Plants will be accepted in containers ranging in size from 4 inches to 3 gallons and should be healthy, well established, and sized appropriately for their container. Smaller plants (4-inch container minimum) will be accepted if they are unusual or rare and have several sets of adult leaves. Plants must be native to our area.
PLEASE LABEL YOUR PLANTS IN ADVANCE with as much of the following information, as you are able. (Don’t worry if you don’t have all the info!)
- Your Full Name (Required)
- Common Name
- Scientific Name (Required)
- Type: tree, small shrub, large shrub, wildflower, ground cover
- Light: full sun, part sun, shade
- Moisture: always wet, damp, irrigated, dry

SEE BELOW FOR LABEL OPTIONS.
Labeling Your Plant – Two Options:
Option 1:
Use an index card to create your own label. Simply write down the plant’s relevant details, as best as you are able.
Option 2:
CLICK HERE to download and print a sheet of plant labels (each sheet can be cut into 4 labels).
We’ll have labels at the meeting, but it’s best to come prepared!
PLEASE BAG OR BOX YOUR PLANTS IN ADVANCE.
And remember, there are always extra plants! So if you are new, don't have a plant, or bring a friend without a plant, you will likely still go home with one. Please do NOT let not having a plant deter you from joining us!

MEETING INFO:
Discover the wonders of native plants and their vital role in supporting local ecosystems, upon which life depends! We discuss various topics related to native plants, including their importance in providing native habitats, promoting biodiversity, and carving the pathway to sustainability.
Our goal is to preserve, conserve, and restore the native plants and native plant communities of Florida.
Whether you're a seasoned native expert, or just starting your journey, this meeting offers something for everyone.
Learn from experienced members of our community who will share valuable insights and tips for creating your own sustainable garden. Connect with fellow advocates, exchange ideas, ask questions, and gain inspiration.
Our popular native plant drawing follows the speaker program. This is a great way to learn from our knowledgeable members who share their expertise on specific native plants in hand, and it’s an opportunity to add hard-to-find plants to your own landscape.
Don't miss the chance to connect with like-minded individuals; this event is a fantastic opportunity for champions of nature to gather and share their love for native plants and gardening.
Also, we have snacks!
