Truth. Reckoning. Change. And the voices to take us there. This year's National Reconciliation Week breakfast in Launceston on Kanamaluka/River Tasmania features two special guest speakers:
🔸Graeme Gardner - a Palawa man whose cultural roots and sense of belonging are deeply connected to Truwana/Cape Barren Island and the Furneaux Islands. He is a leader across the Tasmanian business, governance, energy and sporting sectors, bringing his background, his culture and his perspective to every table he sits at.
🔸Tom Teniswood - brings a powerful and complementary perspective. In 2019, Tom and Jane Teniswood made history by gifting half of their 220-hectare East Coast property to the Aboriginal Land Council of Tasmania, the first private land return in Tasmania. Driven by a commitment to protecting the land for future generations and a belief that returning sacred country would bring communities together, the Teniswoods chose not just to talk about reconciliation, but to act.
Together, Graeme and Tom will speak to and respond to each other around the theme of: "Truth. Reckoning. Change. Reconciliation in Tasmania: A new understanding and approach."
We are also proud and excited to have DENNI performing again this year at our breakfast.
The NRW Breakfasts are not a morning of ticking boxes or comfortable platitudes. This event provides an opportunity for organisations and individuals to really listen and learn, to sit with difficult truths and to be part of a critical conversation about what reconciliation needs to become in Tasmania.
We encourage businesses, government agencies and community organisations to book a table and bring your team. Be part of this important conversation to shape a new understanding and approach to Reconciliation in Tasmania.
