Joliet's Inaugural Poet Laureate Uxmar Torres is hosting the city's 3rd annual National Poetry Month Open Mic in our park's historic theatre.Be sure to grab your free journal and pen! This event has been known to inspire the writer in all of us and this year's event will be no different.
Poets and Musicians alike are encouraged to sign up early by emailing the event coordinator at [email protected]
If you do not get a chance to sign up early, no need to fear! We will have a sign-up sheet at the door for those brave enough to share their art on stage.
This year's featured guest is none other than Chicago's new Poet Laureate Mayda Del Valle. She is a Poet, Artist, and Educator whose work has been featured on stages, televisions, and classrooms across the country. Learn more about Mayda by visiting her website maydadelvalle.com
Due to the nature and content of poetry events, attendees and performers under the age of 16 must have an adult present with them.
Support local artists, authors, and vendors present.
Light refreshments and non-alcoholic drinks will be available for purchase.
