About this Event
Step into the shadows—and the spotlight—with WriteOn Joliet’s “Shades of Noir,” an immersive, radio theater–style performance featuring original stories and poems that explore mystery, mood, and the many meanings of noir.
Eight members of WriteOn Joliet will bring their voices to the stage in this unique live listening experience at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on April 18 at Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park and Theatre. Now in its fourth annual radio theater-style performance, “Shades of Noir” blends evocative storytelling, poetry, and sound to spark the imagination.
WriteOn Joliet is a welcoming, diverse collective of writers representing a wide range of skills and creative backgrounds, including professional journalists, fiction novelists, bloggers, screenwriters, musicians, and poets. The group is committed to fostering a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment where writers can share their work and receive constructive feedback that benefits everyone.
Featured authors and performers include Denise M. Baran-Unland, Mauverneen Blevins, Edward Calkins, Holly Coop, Steve Cordin, Cean Magosky, Jenny Russ, and Duanne Walton. The performance is directed by Jake Thomas, with Rebekah Baran serving as Production Assistant.
Admission is $5. Lobby doors open one hour before each performance, with concessions available for purchase. WriteOn Joliet anthologies—as well as books and merchandise by individual author-performers—will be available for sale before the show, during intermission, and immediately following the performance. The first 10 attendees at each performance will receive a free copy of WriteOn Joliet’s 2025 anthology, Write Where We Are, courtesy of the B.L.O.C.K.S. creative group.
