Discover the fascinating history of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) and its role in protecting wildlife and natural habitats. The USFWS Museum and Archives at NCTC houses nearly 500,000 items that tell the story of American conservation and the agency’s efforts over the years.
The evening begins with a tour of the Archives, where USFWS Historian Mark Madison will share highlights from the collection. Items include Rachel Carson artifacts, the first Duck Stamp and engraving plate, Bureau of Fisheries railroad china, confiscated items, and other fascinating items!
The evening continues with a tour of the museum, led by Master Naturalist and Friends of NCTC volunteer Ellen Murphy. Learn about the agency’s history and its impact on the preservation of our natural world.
The tour is scheduled for an hour, with the option to extend depending on group interest. Afterward, guests are welcome to enjoy dinner in the cafeteria (highly recommended!) and visit the gift shop, both open until 7:30 PM.
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the legacy of conservation with the USFWS.
Free and open to the public. This program is for adults. Registration is required and limited to 20 participants.
(Registration is scheduled to open on Wednesday 12/18 at 7 pm.)
