Have you ever laid eyes on a River Otter or Wild Turkey? Have you ever heard the call of a Barred Owl at night? March is the luckiest time of the year to experience the sights and sounds of wild St. Lucie County. With over 11,000 acres of protected land to explore in the county, the Environmental Resources Department's award-winning Guided Nature Program series can introduce you and your family to local wild spaces. Join an experienced guide, get outside and enjoy the natural beauty of St. Lucie County. You might get lucky and experience something amazing!
· Sunday, March 15 – National Buzzard’s Day Hike at George LeStrange Preserve (9:00am-11:00am) - What's in a name? These are marvelous birds with qualities not found in other large, soaring birds. With Florida's "buzzards" overhead and their habitat beneath our feet, we explore their aerial and terrestrial habits while tracking their movements as we hike.

ERD Guided Nature Program hikes are FREE, reservations are required, and space is limited. GNP season now runs from September through June.
