National Anti-Fur Day – EdmontonNational Anti-Fur Day is an annual animal rights awareness event held on February 14th, bringing together activists across Canada to protest the fur industry and educate the public about the realities of fur farming and trapping.
Animals raised or trapped for fur—including mink, foxes, wolves, bobcats, lynx, and chinchillas with Raccoons, coyotes and bears in the wild—are confined in small cages or caught in body-gripping traps, suffering injury, stress, and premature death. All for fashion products. Valentine’s Day was historically a major fur sales day, making it a strategic date for public education and advocacy.
This action will include peaceful demonstration and outreach using signs and flyers to encourage fur-free choices and support policy change.
The event aligns with the work of The Fur-Bearers, a Canadian organization advocating to:
End fur farming in Canada
Ban cruel body-gripping traps
Advance municipal, provincial, and federal fur-free policies
This is a peaceful, educational action open to the public.
