Join artist and author Myja Lark for the opening reception of Nappy Roots: The Homecoming, a solo exhibition centering Black interiority, ancestry, and return.This exhibition brings together original paintings and written work from the Nappy Roots universe, a counter-narrative that reclaims Black humanity beyond narrow or distorted histories, centering lineage, presence, and inherited genius.
What to Expect
• A full solo exhibition across the Alwun House interior galleries
• Outdoor patio space open for gathering and conversation
• Artist talk by Myja Lark at 7:30 p.m.
• Original artwork, fine art prints, and Nappy Roots: The Homecoming books available for purchase
🍷 Food & Drink
• Beer and wine available with a suggested donation
• Light refreshments by Sugar Star Sweet Treats
• An additional Black-owned food vendor may be present (details to come)
🚗 Parking
• A 30-car parking lot is located directly next to Alwun House
• Additional free neighborhood street parking is available nearby
