The Welter Brothers are not your typical brother duet. They do play stringed instruments, and sing in tight "Blood" harmony, however, their influences range far beyond the standard country and bluegrass fare. Prepare for epic folk ballads, sea shanties, fiddle tunes, originals, and the odd jazz number.
The sons of a naval officer, Corban and Jackson grew up in many different locations - many formative years were spent outside the US. They developed an early consciousness of the variety (and commonality between) different global folk traditions. Their adolescence was spent in the European bluegrass scene, learning to play from and with the old salts in campgrounds and convention centers. Corban's curiosity about jazz and "new acoustic music" pushed him to study at Berklee College of Music, Graduating in 2020. Together, the brothers synthesize a brand of folky music that would make a decorator crab proud. Reducing all of all their many influences down to the basic duality of traditional music: storytelling and dance tunes.
