Mónica María

Mónica María's music reflects her Californian roots mixed with traditional, earthly and contemporary sounds of Latin America. A vocalist, multi-instrumentalist (jarana, guitar, leona, bass, percussion) and composer, Monica will be accompanied by Kyla Danysh on violin and Michael Fecskes on cello. Both Kyla and Michael have a beautifully keen sensibility that lends to a profoundly rich expression of color and emotion through their instruments. Combined with the sincerity and transparent sentimentality in Monica's music, this trio will likely leave you feeling nourished, inspired and seen. Monica's songs are innovative and expressive of a world where cultures coexist, where fear is transformed by compassion, where we learn to truly love ourselves, and where we view the world from an empathetic and holistic state of mind.
Monica has been performing in the Bay Area for over 20 years, holds a BA in music from SFSU, and regularly spends time in Mexico performing, studying and collaborating. She released her debut album, Nuevos Caminos, in 2020, which includes original music and spoken word, and is currently in the works to record and release more music. Some of the genres that most influence Monica's compositions are son jarocho, son cubano, boleros y rancheras. Monica’s a member of The Recording Academy and has collaborated with musicians such as Lucia Gutierrez, Laura Rebolloso, John Calloway, Anthony Blea, Jesus Diaz, Jackeline Rago and Jeronimo Gonzalez.
Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door general admission; $15 for students/low-income individuals. Children under 12 are free. Advance tickets are available here, or if the show is not sold out, you may purchase your tickets at the door before the show.
Doors open 30 minutes before show time. We accept cash or Venmo only at the door.
