My Tanjong Pagar Heritage Tour [English] (16 Nov 2025)

From historical landmarks such as Jinrikisha Station and the former Traffic Police Command (currently Maxwell Chambers) to monumental state buildings such as Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and Government Investment Corporation, Tanjong Pagar is home to many modern institutions. Originally referred as Salinter or fishing village, Tanjong Pagar means ‘cape of stakes’ in Malay and refers to the stretch ofkelongs which made an appearance in Sejarah Melayu as the village that had suffered from vicious attacks from the swordfishes.

My Tanjong Pagar Heritage Tour takes participants down memory lane by exploring the myraid of communities who once lived in the humble fishing village. Through first-hand accounts and vestiges of the past, we will also revisit symbolic landmarks which contributed to Singapore's success as a global port city including the Singapore Conference Hall, Urban Redevelopment Authority and Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre.

This tour also offers exclusive access to the gorgeous MAS Gallery on Saturdays and Keramat Habib Noh on both days.

• Approximate Duration: 3.0 hours
• Language: English
• Meeting Point: Tanjong Pagar MRT Station Exit A (Next to Cheers) - Please meet 15 minutes before the start of the tour.
• Ending Point: Tanjong Pagar Plaza (Singapore 082001)
• The tour will proceed rain or shine.

What to bring or wear?

• Wear suitable shoes and comfortable clothes that covers your shoulders and knees (as we will be entering places of worship).
• Bring along hand sanitizer, insect repellant, a bottle of water, and an umbrella.
• If you have earphones with a standard 3.5mm audio jack, please bring them along (for radio guides during the tour).
• Asthmatic individuals are encouraged to bring their inhaler.

Other important information

• Please do not sign up for the tour if you are unsure of your schedule. Our volunteers have committed their time to this tour – Your unforeseen absence may discourage our volunteers from organizing any physical tours.
• You must cancel this ticket if you are unwell and cannot turn up.
• Participants who have signed up for the tour but did not turn up will be banned permanently from My Community’s future tours.
• Please arrive 15 minutes before the tour for registration.
