Who is this for?
Welcoming local businesses, residents, students, those with accessibilty needs and general stakeholders who would like to find out more about the electrification of transport and what it could mean for you. Could you even save money by transitioning?
In light of the recent energy cost increases, more people and businesses are thinking about making the move to EVs and renewables.
For Business there is the EV business grant announcement from the UK government, aimed at accelertating the adoption of electric vans and trucks cutting fleet costs and expanding depot charging infrastructure.
For Residents the govenment funded LEVI programme will be bringing 900+ on-street charging points across Southampton, delivered by Southampton City Council and Charge Point Operator Urban Fox. Both SCC and Urban Fox will be there to answer your questions.

My Electric Journey: Sparking Change
The event includes outdoor exhibition space at Guildhall Square and indoor talks at the University of Southampton's Sir James Matthews building (TBC).
A series of presentations will be running with speakers talking about latest car developments, local energy plans and charging initiatives, cost saving grants and much more.
Councillor Jacqui Rayment, Cabinet Member for Transport, said:
"Making it easier and more affordable for people to choose cleaner ways to travel is an important part of creating a healthier, greener Southampton. My Electric Journey – Sparking Change is a fantastic opportunity for residents and businesses to see the latest electric vehicles first-hand, ask questions and discover how electric transport could fit into their everyday lives."
Test Drive Requirements
To be able to test drive at the event, you must have held a full UK driving license for a minimum of two years and be over 21 years of age.
Just come to the test drive gazebo and make sure you bring the following three items:
- Your UK photo card driving license
- A printed copy or screenshot of your Personal Driving License Check and your ‘GET A CODE’ reference which you create by visiting Enter details - View your driving licence information - GOV.UK
- Your National Insurance Number
Once verified at the event, you will receive a wristband which you can then show to the EV dealerships at the event and get driving. Drivers will be informed of any specific brand requirements.
