About this Event

My Black Is… Beautiful: Shā

Join us for the final gathering of our four-week My Black Is Beautiful series as we come together to honor Black creativity, movement, and community during the centennial year of Black History Month in America.

The day begins with SHĀ, a 75-minute dance–asana practice blending expressive dance, yoga, music, and breath into a seamless, liberating flow. Rooted in New York dance traditions and yogic philosophy, this practice invites self-discovery and embodied joy—no dance experience required.

Following the practice, enjoy a live dance performance curated by Beyond the Black Box, along with a community mural, vendors, music, and food—creating a joyful, collective close to the series.

Hosted at Fyra Yoga. Come move, connect, and celebrate.
Note: This is a ticketed event on a sliding scale of $35 - $55. After registering here, we will contact you with further details on finalizing your class registration.

Lakou Presents: My Black Is Beautiful

Each week, this series is designed to create intentional space for the Black community to come together for healing, movement, joy, and connection. Below is the full lineup of classes:

  • Week 1 — Saturday, February 7, 2026 | 12:15 PM . Led by Randy Aaron. A special offering for Black men/mascs, inspired by Randy’s Flight Club series. Open to all levels, this class invites participants to explore floating on the mat and maybe even turning upside down. *Sliding scale $15-$35*
  • Week 2 — Saturday, February 14, 2026 | 1:00 PM. Led by Karine Plantadit. A special offering for Black women/femmes, inspired by Fyra Flow and centered on strength, softness, and embodied power. *Sliding scale $15-$35*
  • Week 3 — Saturday, February 21, 2026 | 6:00 PM. Led by Frantz G. Hall. An offering for all Black-identifying individuals, inspired by Frantz’s Restore & Reset class and paired with Reiki by guest artist Tru Violet. *Sliding scale $35-$55*
  • Week 4 — Saturday, February 28, 2026 | 4:00 PMLed by Karine Plantadit. A joyful, movement-forward experience for everyone to come together and dance it out, followed by a community celebration where participants can connect and vibe. *Sliding scale $35-$55*

Space for each class is limited, so we encourage early registration.

Thank you for supporting this series and helping us continue to create space for community, care, and celebration. We are really excited about celebrating the centennial year of Black History Month in a profound way. Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
