Muslim women bouldering (Climbing) session in Bethnal Green

ClimbMuz is aimed at Muslim women and women of colour to access the wonderful sport of climbing. We aimed to provide a safe and accessible space.

Bethwall in Bethnal Green is a newly opened wall which is a 2-minute walk from Bethnal Green Station. We will be bouldering (climbing walls up to 4.5 metres high without a rope)

You don't need upper body strength to climb!!!

Timings:

• The plan is to meet at the centre at 5:10pm as we still start at 5:30pm
• Climb until 7pm-7:30pm.

Cost:

• £11 off-peak concession rate (Normally £20)
• Shoe hire, chalk and registration fees included in the price
• The climbing centre is open to the public. We will be sharing the space with other climbers.
• Adults only

Session:

• Mixed ability session from experienced climbers to anyone completely new to climbing
• The session is run by volunteers

Beginner session:

• We will do a warm-up
• Learn how to fall properly
• Route demonstration
• Learn how to keep yourself safe on the wall
• There will be lots of support available

Clothing:

• Please come dressed in gym/workout clothing
• Jilbab/ abaya's need to be at a suitable length so your foot does not get caught whilst climbing. You will be turned away.
• Please do not wear any rings as that can cause injury, do be mindful of the jewelry you wear

Accessiblity:

• Bethwall is fully accessible and there are no stairs, everything is on one level
• Changing cubicles and toilets are available

Prayer space:

There is no private room for prayer but attendees have found a space in the gym to pray and staff will turn down the music

• Bottle of water
• Padlock for the lockers
• Only sign up if you are able to attend the session.
• Pictures may be taken (please speak to us to opt-out).

Terms and Conditions:

• Only one sign up per person. Double bookings will be cancelled.
• ClimbMuz does not make any money from running these events and everything goes towards supporting the community
• Please contact ClimbMuz separately if finances are a barrier
• Please remember to bring a padlock
• ClimbMuz does not take any responsibility for your belongings and any injuries that may occur during the session. You are responsible for keeping yourself safe.
