Join the WA Guitar Orchestra at the Herdsman Lake Discovery Centre for a magical evening of classical guitar music, as part of the ‘In the Park’ spring event series, in partnership with the WA Parks Foundation.From 4:00-6:00pm, enjoy a range of classical guitar ensemble pieces as you watch the sun set over Herdsman Lake, then help yourself to light refreshments served lakeside at intermission.

‘WAGO Connections - A Celebration of Australian, Spanish and Celtic Music’
The WA Guitar Orchestra presents a variety of music in this heartfelt and joyful recital.
Western Australian history and nature is celebrated in The Catalpa Rescue and Nyinggulu. Unusual and very effective arrangements of well-loved classical and popular music contrast with original music by Australian composers, including two members of the Orchestra. A classical guitar concert would not be complete without the music of the Celtic world and Spain.
WAGO is a volunteer guitar orchestra that combines fundraising for charity with performing a combination of traditional and original music. Our members are involved in arranging and writing music for the orchestra and vary from enthusiastic amateurs to tertiary students and professional teachers and performers.
WAGO is directed by composer and guitarist Jane Darcey, who has recently completed a Master of Arts at WAAPA and is now enrolled in the PhD program.
ABOUT THE GUITAR ORCHESTRA:
Formed in 2002 the WA Guitar Orchestra has become a foundation of the Classical Guitar Society of Western Australia’s activities. It currently comprises players of all ages, ranging from school age to retirement and provides fun music making in a relaxed and social environment.
The orchestra performs in such geographically diverse venues as the University of WA, the Kalamunda Performing Arts Centre, the Maylands Yacht Club and the Perth Town Hall. The main concerts of the year are scheduled in June-July and December.
TICKETS
Bookings are essential as spots are limited. Tickets $25 Adults, $15 for Concession or Society Members.
Limited tickets may be available at the door if not sold out prior. Most events sell out in advance so we advise to book online to avoid disappointment.
All funds raised will go back to support both the WA Classical Guitar Society and WA Gould League (both registered charities).
The Herdsman Lake Discovery Centre can be found on the corner of Flynn and Selby Street in Wembley.
