Music Appreciation Club
About this Event
The BIPOC Alliance presents Music Appreciation Club—a monthly gathering where we highlight iconic albums by Black, Indigenous, and People of Color artists and explore the ways they have shaped music and popular culture.
Our October discussion will focus on Janet Jackson’s iconic, poignant, and introspective album, “The Velvet Rope,” released October 7, 1997.
You do not have to know the entire album to participate. Maybe you have listened to every song, maybe you have only heard a few, or maybe you are discovering the album for the first time. What matters is your curiosity and your desire to connect, share, and chat about music.
No musical background or expertise is required. Come ready to listen, reflect, share your perspective, and nerd out about music with other members of our community.
Music Appreciation Club is a BIPOC-centered and welcoming space for music lovers of all backgrounds. We center BIPOC artists and experiences while welcoming anyone who wants to participate with curiosity, care, and respect.
Come as you are. There is a seat for you.
