About this Event
Learn how to grow your own mushrooms in this hands-on workshop! We’ll guide you through the process of inoculating hardwood logs with mushroom spawn and teach you everything you need to know about setting up and caring for your log at home. By the end of the day, you’ll have your own prepared log to take home and the skills to grow fresh mushrooms year after year.

- 10:00 AM – Arrival & Orientation
Gather at the Tyee Arts & Education Center, meet your instructors, and get an overview of the day. - 10:15 AM – The Science of Fungi
Learn the basics of mushroom biology, the types of mushrooms suited for log cultivation, and how to select the right log. - 10:45 AM – Tools & Techniques
Watch a step-by-step demonstration of how to inoculate logs using the right tools and methods. - 11:30 AM – Log Inoculation: Guided Practice
Work hands-on to inoculate your own hardwood log, with support from your instructors. - 12:45 PM – Log Care & Harvesting Tips
Learn how to care for your log to ensure successful mushroom growth, including placement, watering, and harvesting. - 1:15 PM – Reflection & Q&A
Wrap up the workshop with time for questions and connecting with other participants. - 2:00 PM – Workshop Concludes
