Mushroom 101 and Foraging Class

Greetings Fun-gals and Fun-guys,

Join the Goat Plum Tree Farm team for their 5th season of leading mushroom foraging classes. We've hosted hundreds of people and inspired so many to delve into the world of fungi.

During this in-person event, you'll have the opportunity to discover different types of mushrooms, learn how to identify them, and understand their importance in nature. Our knowledgeable instructors will guide you through the basics of foraging and share valuable tips for a successful mushroom hunt.

The class is divided into three parts. You'll enjoy a PowerPoint presentation and oratory on natural history, biology and ecological roles, cutting-edge research, health benefits, safety tips, and how to ID. Build your skills, from this class you may develop foundational knowledge for IDing thousands of species. The second hour will be all hands on, and in the forest. Challenge yourself using our flashcards to discover their roles and specific features. We hand pick our classes for when you're most likely to find mushrooms. It's a bonanza out there! In the third hour come back to the barn to enjoy a mushroom cooking demo and sampling the gourmet mushrooms we found. We have a couple of surprises for you, there's so much to discover!
