Mug Handbuilding Workshop
About this Event
Join us on Sunday, September 6, at Ginkgo Bakery & Cafe for a One of a Kiln Workshop—a hands-on, beginner-friendly clay experience designed for the creatively curious and anyone looking to connect with their community.
Rooted in inclusivity and experimentation, these creative gatherings invite you to play, explore, and create through handbuilding—no pottery wheel, no pressure, and no perfection required.
During the workshop, you'll learn foundational ceramic techniques, including:
- Pinch pots
- Coil building
- Basic shaping and structure
- How to use essential clay tools
Using these techniques, you'll create your own functional mug! We'll finish by adding personality with sculptural handles, carved textures, and decorative details before you select your preferred glaze.
Finished pieces will be delivered back to Ginkgo Bakery & Cafe for pickup in approximately 3–4 weeks. Guests will be notified when their pottery is ready, and Ginkgo will honor the 10% event discount when you return to pick up your finished piece.
Whether you're coming with friends, planning a date, or simply trying something new, this workshop is the perfect opportunity to slow down, get creative, and leave with both new memories and a handmade piece you'll treasure.
Clay, glazes, and tools will be provided.
Tickets include complimentary lemonade and iced tea!
