Mark “Pocket” Goldberg and the MPG band is Florence Oregon’s premier original music band. You can dance or just sit and enjoy the sounds of the three pro’s that make up this musical group.
Mark moved from Los Angeles two years ago after spending over 40 years writing and playing music with some of the most well know names in the music industry. From Mick Fleetwood of Fleetwood Mac fame, to Blues Great Buddy Guy, Charlie Musslewhite, Finis Tasby playing his Texas Blues, Screaming Jay Hawkins, Willie Dixon, Chuck Berry, and the list goes on and on.
With 6 recorded CD’s over the years, Mark’s music spans many genre’s as well as blues. County Rock, R&B, and even Rock-A-Billy songs are included in a nights set list. Mark’s vocalizing has been compared to Johnny Cash meets Blues legend Howlin’ Wolf.
His local band is called the MPG band and featured some of LA’s most accomplished blues players as Blues is his first love. The Florence version of the MPG band features John (JC) Gulla on guitar, also an avid blues lover, and pro drummer Eric Starr, the newest member of the MGB band who spent years playing the bar circuit in California.
Together we play “In The Pocket” which describes the band playing tightly locked together as only recording pro’s know how to make that happen.
Michael Wesley Hughes a member of the “Blue Tide Band” from Coos Bay Oregon, will be joining the MPG band for upcoming gigs, featuring his own original music, Marks original songs, and adding vocals and guitar.
