About this Event
This celebratory activity will highlight the Women’s History Month theme “Moving Forward Together: Women Educating & Inspiring Generation” and activities calendar for celebrations. It will include a resource fair and presentation by women’s health activists and authors Marita Golden and Bernardine Watson, who have written about women’s health and presented women’s health workshops discuss their journeys to health and healing and answer the most frequently asked questions about creating and sustaining a lifelong wellness practice. In a conversation moderated by Marita Golden, health issues that disproportionately impact Black women will be discussed, among them obesity, chronic kidney disease and depression. This will be a conversation that goes beyond the troubling statistics about women’s health challenges. In a wide-ranging conversation that calls on their personal experience as well as their research, interviews, workshops and presentations, each presenter will offer action-plans that can become part of a healthy woman’s life and lifestyle. Questions from and interaction with attendees is a vital aspect of the presentation. Each of the presenters will also address how their lives as writers have played an indispensable role in sustaining their mental health.
