Errol Morris’ 1988 groundbreaking film, The Thin Blue Line, proved that documentaries could be both critically acclaimed art and powerful tools for social change, making it one of the most important non-fiction films ever made. It fundamentally changed the true crime genre and the documentary form by investigating a puzzling case of possible wrongful conviction. Its pioneering use of stylized, expressionistic reenactments and a Philip Glass score blurred the lines between fiction and non-fiction, creating a compelling, artistic, and deeply influential film. So many things to discuss together! The evening will be led by CCB parishioner and professional film-maker Catherine Park.
